Poker lexicon: how to pass for an insider?

  • Bike – this is the nickname of the lowest hand.
  • Three of a kind – we give this name by hand with three identical cards and two different ones.
  • Entrance fee – this is a price that the player must pay to participate in the tournament.
  • Nuts – it is a term denoting the best hand of a game.
  • Raise – the action of increasing the previous player's bet.
  • Community cards – these are the cards in the middle of the table that are visible to all participants in the game.

There are still a few poker terms and slang words that will help you pass for an insider, even if it's your first game of poker. Keep in mind that if a player calls you "bird", "pigeon" or "fish", he does not take you seriously, but as a draw. But you can always say "I'm black! "to show that you consider yourself a strong enough player.

"Being hooded" means losing almost everything and not having the means to play more. Two concepts are often used to describe the players: "safe" for the one who only wins big and "Martian" to name someone who risks even with the weak hand.
